The world’s a changing place and progress is unstoppable!
One such change affecting everyone that travels is “electronic tickets” a pioneering invention of the airline industry.
When we first heard of it we could not grasp what it was, we continually asked “well where’s the ticket” expecting that at some point one would get ‘a ticket’. What we eventually got to understand was that there was no ticket as such, it was something that was held in the computer. Wow! A virtual ticket!
Then we grasped it, there is no paper ticket! As your reservation is held in the computer , in the same way, now your ticket is held in the computer.
There are some advantages!
You can’t lose what you never had so you can’t lose an electronic ticket so no more lost tickets in the post or you can’t remember where you have left it.
Any change you could make to a paper ticket you can make to an electronic one.
An electronic ticket can be issued here for someone to come from the other side of the world just as easily as issuing a ticket from London to our usual destinations.
Some airlines have gone completely electronic, BA and Air Jamaica are such examples, sadly some have not!
