BA have announced that as from the 6th of October 09 their baggage allowance to the US, Canada and Caribbean will be 1 piece weighing no more than 23Kg ( 50 pounds).
BA will be charging GBP40.00 for the first extra piece of luggage and GBP90.00 for a third piece. Hand baggage remains unaffected.
Only those whose tickets were issued before the 6th of October will be allowed to carry 2 pieces at 23Kg.
This is not good news for passengers travelling to the Caribbean and we hope that BA will change this policy.
Virgin Atlantic have now joined BA in the changes to trans atlantic baggage allowance, they too will only allow 1 piece of luggage at 23 Kg. This will begin the 25th of November 09.
